What a crazy year this has been! I keep thinking that our lives will get less hectic but I am giving that idea/wish up! But, I am going to enjoy it because one day, the boys will be grown and gone and then we will have all that time on our hands and we will wonder what to do! LOL

Our 2011 for our family has consisted of: new job positions, hunting, trapping, wildlife removal business growing, lifting weights, workouts, football, ipods, soccer, tball, cardiogist check-up, kindergarten, Nintendo 3DS's!, guitar lessons, beginning my 15th year of teaching:), visiting with family, blogging, facebooking, saying goodbye, being the minivan chauffeur for the boys!

Some where fun, some painful but it's all been a part of our life.

What's up ahead for 2012?
I would like to say it will be a normal, slow paced year but that's wishful thinking:) more than likely, it will be alot like 2011; looking forward to being apart of it all!

After presents, we got ready for church. Our pastor did his annual monologue..this year he was Simeon and told the story of Jesus' birth from Simeon's perspective. We always look forward to this awesome service. What a special day to attend church on Christmas Day!
Then, it was home for a lunch of steak and shrimp, twice baked potatoes, green beans, corn and rolls. With peppermint brownies for dessert. YUM!

The 3 kinders!!! They are best buddies, classmates and fight like they are brothers and sisters!

Andrew, aka Mac, McKenzie, aka Haley, Logan, aka Austin and Ben, aka Brody...the lead roles in the musical. These kids worked sooo hard!!

Deciding what to buy Mr. Lancaster for Christmas...Brody wants to get him a lighted makeup mirror or chicken nuggets!

Colby, aka Officer Paul...he is in charge of making sure everyone has the Christmas spirit!

Piper...she sang 3 solos!!! She is such a talented young lady...and a former student of mine:)

Elizabeth, aka Tiff...the kids go to Tiff's gifts to look for the perfect gift for their teacher (who happens to be Tiff's husband-in the musical and real life!)

The kinders sang a trio! I teared up listening to them...they did a wonderful job!

Their lines were: "What can I give you poor as I am, If I were a shepherd, I'd bring you a lamb, If I were a wise man, I'd do my part...what can I give you...I give you my heart" precious words from 3 precious kiddos!

The preschool choir sang Away in a Manger during one of our songs...they were soo cute!!

The last part of the musical....Tiff shows the kids the tree that is covered in gifts you give from your heart..like kind deeds and doing for others.The kids all made ornaments with a "gift" to give their parents during the last song.

I really loved doing the musical but oh my! what a lot of work!!! I think it will take me til May to recover and then we start the summer one!

Landyn woke up on his birthday, December 7 & was so excited so see snow!! He thought is was for his birthday!

At Montessori, on the kid's birthdays, we have something called a Celebration of Life. As the parents read about things that happened during their 1st thru 6th years of life, the child walks around a candle (the sun) while holding a globe. As they progress each year, a new candle is lit. Then, they blow them out at the end and we sing! At lunch, the birthday kid gets to eat on the red plate and drink from the red cup.

A week before Thanksgiving, my grandfather was diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer. We were able to be with him on Thanksgiving.
Late Monday, December 5, Papaw passed away. He is now with my grandmother and will spend Christmas with her in Heaven!

Jason was able to sing at the funeral and it was wonderful! My dad preached the service and it was a; great sermon.
Papaw was a WWII veteran. During the graveside service, while they were playing Taps, military planes flew in formation overhead-it was so cool so see that-a pure coincedence!

He was a quiet man but when he spoke you knew to listen, he was full of wisdom and knowledge:)

Papaw, you will be missed so much.....

Once a month, our children's ministry has a Kid's Night Out (KNO) For November, we fed them pizza and then went caroling for 3 ladies who are in bad health or just needed a smile and song. We had a good time. Our cousin Emma went with us too!

The last game....Storm Bowl 2011.....against Annie Camp Whirlwinds-the other Jonesboro junior high.....needed to win to be the conference champions....poured rain all day....cancelled at 11 am....rain stopped at 1 pm....game back on at 2 pm.....started raining again at 6 pm....cold!!!!.....got to the stadium at 6:30 pm, game starts at 7 pm....no sign of the MacArthur Cyclones....heard sirens....looked over and here come the Mighty Cyclones...with police escort....what an enterance...what a game!! We won 32 to 24...CONFERENCE CHAMPS!!!!

Montessori Spooktacular Halloween Party 2011

What a fun evening we had at Clarah Creighton's Halloween party! We played lots of games: guessing jar, guess how much the pumpkin weighs, telling ghost stories, pumpkin bowling, bobbing for apples, eating delicious food! Smores around the fire pit, pinata in the "cemetary" (that's what Clarah Creighton 's brother Tom B called the backyard!) wrapping each other up at Mummies!

Landyn's book project for school was "The Paperboy". He had to bring 3 items that were in the book. So, he brought a bike helmet, a bag and a newspaper. This is a special book because Kordyn also did this book for his project when he was in Montessori Kindergarten!

Today was Landyn's last regular soccer game and the last game was against his buddies, Stryker, Kolton and Cole. They were all buddies at Montessori last year; Kolton is in his class this year but the other 2 went to a different school.

Since Taylor's Greenhouse is now open at night for fall fun, we decided to go last night. Since all the men were busy and out of town, we met Aunt Barbara and Emma in Walnut Ridge for dinner. The restaurant was next to the new Beatles sculpture that they made just recently to commerate the time the Beatles stopped in Walnut Ridge at the airport. The kids wanted to pose with it!

First Field Trip

Landyn's class went on their first field trip last Friday. We went to Taylor's Greenhouse in Hoxie, Ar. We got to tour the fields, a greenhouse, learn all about the life cycle of the pumpkin, go thru a corn maze, play barn games, take pics! and pick out a pumpkin. Such fun!!! There was even a special pumpkin that was painted for our class!

Fall Football 2011

Kordyn is playing football again this year. He plays noseguard or right tackle usually.

Landyn likes to visit the concession stand!

Landyn's best buddy, Stryker, also has a brother, Stabler, who plays 8th grade football for Valley View. They had been to the fair before the game.

So far, 8th grade (Tuesday nights) have only lost 1 game. Varsity (Thursday nights) has also only lost 1game. Good teams!!! It's been a very busy fall playing 2 games a week but it's fun to watch! So far, we've been to Paragould, Valley View, Nettleton, West Memphis and Marion. There are 2 weeks left and we play at home and West Memphis. Then.... we'll see if we go on to the Championship game and if we win the 6A East conference!

To conclude VBS, our church's children's ministry puts on a musical. The regular attenders work all summer learning the music, skits etc. Then, every night after VBS, we practice the music with all the children who attend VBS and then present the musical the next Sunday. I helped assist the directors with it this year-fun but sooo busy:)

The preschoolers always sing a song in the big musical. This was Landyn, Charley Claire and Nick's last "preschool singing". This fall, they will be in the BIG musical since they will all 3 promote up to the kindergarten class.

July 2011

In July, we were sooo busy!! Landyn's friend Houston had a birthday party at the Paragould Water Park, which is the BEST place!!!

We ordered the boys' new backpacks for school and Landyn played Indiana Jones man with Kordyn's!

Our church had VBS. The first night, Charley Claire and Landyn played with a turtle that had been found outside.

Kordyn helped with the sound and I was the photographer!

One of the activities was to make "Jesus loves you" tags, tie them to balloons and let them go.

So, one day i may actually catch up this blog with pics of my kids, etc but we are a football family so I thought this was so funny!!! We had Landyn's soccer this am, working Families Inc fair booth late this afternoon and then it's ASU Red Wolves time! (but Landyn and I are skipping this one!) We play UCA so it will be a good game. We have family from Alabama who are Roll Tide fans, but sure hope we beat them today!!

We found a perfect spot to watch the fireworks! Landyn loved the bright colors. Freedom Fest 2011 was a hit again this year! I love how they set it to music from the Fox, 104.9.

We BBQ'd on July 4th but somehow I didn't get any pictures of the chicken, pork steak, spicy potatoes, southern skillet corn, baked beans or the homemade bread-just a picture of the made from scratch peach cobbler, the best thing anyway! LOL

On our way to watch the fireworks, we saw the doe that lives in our woods. We are throwing out corn so they will come up in the yard.

The Summer (so-far) Update!!

This summer is going by so fast! A few weeks ago, I helped my assistant teacher decorate for her son's wedding. The bride and groom wanted an ASU Red Wolves' themed rehearsal with the university's colors of black and red. It turned out really good! We used pom poms, helmets, footballs and statues to decorate the tables. Here is one with a daisy and statue.

Her son actually works for the ASU football dept so he was able to borrow several helmets for us to use.

This was the dessert table. The framed picture has different football plays on it.

This was the main serving table. We used their engagement picture, a football, helmet and pom poms, a letter "B" and an "i love you" framed picture as the center pieces.

This was the drink table. We added several pitchers of tea later but this was what we put the cokes in and the water.

I wanted to blog these pictures in case I ever need to decorate for another football party!

The next week, we had a horrible storm and came home to our patio table overturned! Can't believe the trampoline didn't blow away though!!

And, yesterday, Cousin Emma came home with us to play. Landyn and her had a blast playing house.

We met Uncle Bucko and Aunt Barbara at Brick Oven Pizza in Paragould for dinner so we left early enough to run into Lowes first. Love their shopping carts!!! Both kids fit in it!

Today, we went to Holcumb, Missouri to eat at Strawberry's BBQ. It was an hour and half trip one way and worth the drive!! Best BBQ ever! We bought the rub to use when we grill out. We stayed home this fourth of July. We haven't stayed home the past 3 years. After Landyn's dr appt Friday, I was really glad we stayed home-just wasn't up to talking about his upcoming surgery with every family member this weekend.

Clinton Library/Dr Seuss art

We went to Little Rock to celebrate Mother's Day with Nana. And, since the Clinton Library had a Dr Seuss art exhibit there til the end of May, we decided to go and visit. It was really neat to see the artwork and the Presidential memorbilia. We even say a FBI most wanted poster of Osama Bin Laden from when Clinton put him on the most wanted list. There was also an exhibit of waxed figures from history. It was really cool. My favorite was the one of George Washington.

You can look up dates in these binders and see what the President was doing at certain times. When Jason and I got married on June 8, 1996, 2 pm, he was playing golf. When Kordyn was born at 5:55 pm on April 9, 1998, he was hosting the NCAA championshi winners.

The Royal Wedding

Yes, I know I haven't even posted Easter pictures yet, but it's been a little crazy here with our weather for the past week and half: tornadoes, flooding, rain, rain and rain. I am so sick of turning on the tv to hear or see: the color red (with purple for the worst part of the storm), hearing the words: safe spot, seeing Ryan Vaughn, our local weatherman (who we love but wish he hasn't had to spend time away from his family to keep us safe!!) and always watching the lower left corner of the tv to see how much time we have before the next round hits!! So, since Friday it was a little better, I DVR'd the Royal Wedding, thinking I would stay up and watch the entire thing. Well, our former neighbors called with free tickets to the circus, so, we all went and had a blast. I will post all these missing pictures soon. But, more weather is on the way this week and more flooding, so it may be awhile before I can get internet again.

But, here's the couple!!!

He is adorable and she is beautiful!! Love her dress and he looks so handsome in his "Irish" uniform. And, here is the Queen. She looks wonderful to be about 85 (I think!)

Love the pomp and circumstance that goes along with the Royal weddings!!! Loved the carriages and cars they rode in to and from the ceremony.

In honor of the wedding on Friday, my class and I talked in British accents as we played Bingo. One of my kids in my class, her dad is British so she was our expert on whether we were saying the words correctly or not:)

Kordyn is now a teenager!!! We have had 2 weekends of celebrations! First dinner, cake and "green" gift with Nana and PaT. Then, the next weekend, dinner, cake and more "green" gifts with Mammie, Peet, Uncle Bucko, Aunt Barbara, Emma, Granny, Nannie Turner and Papaw Turner. And, to end the festivities: he got to go get his Ipod Touch!! Great 13th birthday!!

Only 5 year old I know that is small enough to take a bath in the kitchen sink! Since Landyn's eardrum ruptured last week, he can't get it wet at all. So, bath time has been a challenge! Jason just put him in the sink instead of trying to use the large nozzle sprayer in the boys' bathroom. He'll probably hate me one day for putting this on here:)

This morning,we got to talk to my brother's family! minus by brother (he was at the airport picking up a group of people, from my parent's church,who were coming to help them this week) Kaleb has gotten so big since they left! And, Maggie is talking so much now! It broke my heart to have to say goodbye to her because she stuck out her bottom lip and said No when Amy told her to tell us goodbye! But, finally we got a kiss blown to us and we had to end the call. I love skype and webcams! Makes it a little easier to get to talk to them with them so far away:)

Women's LACE Conference

Our church had a women's conference this morning. We started off with muffins, fruit and coffee. Then we moved into the sanctuary to listen to Pam Rusher speak. She is a wonderful woman who I've known for many years. Her husband, Buck, was a surgeon who passed away last May from a brain tumor. They spent several years on the mission field in Mongolia. We got to know them well when we attended Central.
Next we had lunch, catered by Ann's Restaurant and several door prizes were handed out.
The afternoon speaker was a lady named Gianna Jessen. Her testimony is awesome. She was a saline-aborted baby who lived and has cerebal palsy. Her website: http://www.giannajesson.com/ has more information on her ministry. She sings beautifully and is probably THE MOST HILARIOUS PERSON I'VE EVER HEARD!!! I loved the way she finds humor in almost everything. I can't wait to hear her again tomorrow at church!
The final door prize of the day was a flying tour over Jonesboro! My friend Susan won it!

A Rapunzel Party

One of Landyn's friends at school is Audrey and she had an awesome party last night! Yes, that is Rapunzel helping to cut the cake! She was awesome: she sang a song to the kids, read a book, played a game and helped with presents.

After all that, we went outside and lit paper lanterns to let fly just like they did in the Rapunzel movie. It was a little windy so only one did well, the other one caught on fire and had to be stomped out.

And, it flew!!!

The best thing, according to Landyn, were the glow sticks!! He made a big circle with his and had to sleep with them beside him hanging up so he could see them!

I'm thinking about hiring Candyce for our next party, she will do anything! And the kids loved her!

A Visitor

I was soooo excited to look up Friday afternoon and see Sara and her little girl, Lola at school! Sara was Landyn's first teacher in the Byrd house at Montessori. I wish I would have taken a picture of Sara with Lola but I wasn't really thinking!! Isn't she adorable?? Sara's blog is on the blogs i read list to the right, The Bell's. It was so fun to get caught up with Sara! Miss her!

Science Fair 2011

Kordyn's Science Fair Project was about gaming. The title was 21337 ot N008? Elite or Newbie? It was a long process to get the final product! We had 3 snow days and he was out sick for 4 days and couldn't work on it so we were excited when he was finally finished with it!

This week, Kordyn got really sick and had to go to the dr. He had bronchitus with what they thought might be a touch of pneumonia and a stomach virus (that they were concerned was food poisoning!)

He had to go back a few days later to be checked out and make sure he was improving so he could go back to school-he missed 4 days!!! Landyn has had the same cough so we took him with us to get some medicine. We are so ready for everyone to be well and no more dr visits or medicine!!!

btw, Kordyn is much better! Landyn asked the dr if he had any special brownies for diarrhea kids!

so, now we are 2 for 2. Kordyn has a stomach virus and/or food poisoning! And, when we went to the dr, he still had a cough and it is now bronchitis and maybe a little pneumonia! he hasn't been to school all week and can't return until we see the dr on thurs night. if he's not better, then they start running tests to see what is going on. we are really praying he is better by thurs night!!!!! he is really sad: no food that tastes good!!! only a bland diet until he is all better. so, bananas, rice, applesauce, tea and toast. nothing with any sugar in it!

really hoping Landyn's cough isn't what Kordyn has had-taking him to the dr with us thurs if he still has it tho!!!

The Sickies

Since we've been invaded by the sickies, there are no pictures with this post. Because, well, noone wants to see 10 loads of laundry, dirty dishes and a living room filled with toys/junk. I went to bed last night praying that a little fairy would come overnight and clean it all up, but it didn't happen! So, I guess when Mom is sick, the house just falls apart:( On the bright side, I will have plenty to keep me busy when I do start feeling better. Strep throat will just about kill ya!!

Landyn was asked to be a commercial for Liberty Bank. It will not air in Jonesboro, but in the Fayetteville area. Liberty Bank worked with the United Way to fix a playground so they were recreating it and used our playground at school. I took these from inside (and without a flash so noone would know I took them!) It took them probably about 4 or 5 hours to shoot this commercial that will only be about 30 seconds!

Well, according to the teachers at another school here in Jonesboro, you just wear your pjs inside out, lick a spoon and sleep with it under your pillow and flush ice cubes down the toilet. Saying Goodbye

We met my family in Searcy for dinner tonight and to say goodbye to Jeff, Amy, Maggie and Kaleb. They will be leaving to go back to Macedonia on January 15th. It was so hard to say goodbye because it will be about 3 years before we see them again! It makes me so sad to think that we will miss so much of the kids "younger years".

This is my brother Jeff and his gorgeous wife: Amy. (Am I forgiven for the previous bad pics I put on my blog of you, Amy?) The restaurant was so dark that I had a difficult time getting a brighter picture.

The "Williams" Grandkids, unless Jeff and Amy add to the mix because there will be no more "Turners" to add!!! Kordyn- 12 1/2 yrs, Kaleb-3 mo, Landyn- 5yrs, Maggie-19 mo.

And look who drove them home??? She even knew to push buttons when she got in the drivers seat!!

I will definitely have to keep up this blog better:) We love you guys!!
