Snowy Day

This is what is currently going on outside today. It is beautiful! When the temp drops tonight, maybe it will even stick!

Friday Favorites

This week has been such a long one. I am so looking forward to a night at home tonight. Roast is cooking in the crock-pot (and my house smells wonderful!), looking forward to cleaning a little, doing a little laundry, curling up with a good book and going to bed early!

Favorites:
1. my camera-love digital photography! Pics are so much better
2. Lean Cuisine pizzas-taste wonderful, fill you up, and are actually good for you.
3. Landyn's singing- he loves music! He sings children's songs, songs from his favorite movies, and even from the radio (his favorite is Brad Paisley's "Waiting on a Woman" and Alan Jackson's "Country Boy". He will close his eyes, move his head and pretend to play his guitar (or use his play one).
4. Books- I love to hear Kordyn excited by something he's reading. He gets so into them. Of course, we are going to go broke buying all of them because I think he's read all that the library has!
5. Looking at decorating ideas online. Found this awesome blog (nesting place) They have really unique window treatments that do not require sewing!!

We are getting our house ready to be shown Monday to our neighbor. He has mentioned in the past that he wants to buy our property-Pray that he still does. We are ready to make an offer on a house we've found that is perfect for us! Just need to work out all of the details! I'm on pins and needles for all of this to work out!

Shopping Trip

Let's just say that we learned an important lesson today. DO NOT GO TO LOWE"S LOOKING FOR APPLIANCES WITH 2 CHILDREN IN TOW, ONE WHO NEEDS A NAP!

This morning, we met our realtors and looked at a house that we've found in the perfect area: a country neighborhood. Jason and I both win!! Anyway, it's a repo-ed house so I was expecting it to need a lot of work, but after a good cleaning, new paint because we're just not really into sherbert colored walls (through the whole house) and we don't really get "eggplant" colored cabinets, a stove because there isn't one, and bathroom mirrors-?, we could move right in. There are several things that we'd like to re-do, but we could live there for a while and then start making changes. The hardwood floors need to be sanded and sealed, but the ceramic tile is in good shape and the carpet in brand new. There is also a lot of work that needs to be done in the yard especially after the recent ice storm!

Anyway, we'll see how it works out, but I know that it has a lot of space and basically everything we want in a house!

Better late than never

Here are some before the ice storm, during and after the storm These were taken around our house. They are actually going from bottom to top in order. Can't figure out how to switch them! I'm so sad. I LOVE these Bradford Pear Trees-they are so pretty in the fall. We only lost 1, but the other 2 are in pretty bad shape.

Happy heart day!

The Turner family has enjoyed this beautiful day! The sun was sooo nice to see today. We started with a breakfast of heart-shaped biscuits and heart-shaped sausage (well, that did not turn out as well as the biscuits did) . Then, I went shopping and out to lunch with one of my bestest friends. Retail therapy always lifts me up. Now we are getting ready to enjoy a wonderfully smelling dinner of Slow-Cooker Beef Stew (go to my recipe blog for the recipe). Then we will surprise the boys with going out for dessert tonight.
Here are some pictures that I took yesterday for our Valentine cards-yes, they will be late, but better than nothing!

Tomorrow is THE day

For a preschool and kindergarten teacher, Valentine's Day is exhausting!

Those innocent little paper valentines are really evil! They turn sweet, kind children into raving little people who get so excited to pass them out to everyone! Really, it's a pretty fun day. Lots of excited children who get so wound up to give all of their friends pink and red paper. You can't help but smile watching them!

Kordyn picked sports ones with fire flaming out from them and suckers to pass out. Landyn picked Disney ones. For my class,I made little bags with notepads, pencils and suckers. Can't wait to see what's in their bags tomorrow!

100th post

Wow! I have managed to find 100 boring things about my life to blog about. Today, I took Landyn to the dr. Yes, he has the "stuff" now. And, he finally weighs 30 lbs. Yahoo! For a little boy who is sick, he has eaten all night. Maybe he is growing. Kordyn got his progress report from school today-all a's and 1 b (math). He even got his ACE report and it was good also.
I'm off to snuggle with Landyn (who is excited that he gets to sleep with me since he is sick and taking some strong cough medicine).

Bad Parenting Moment

OK, so today I didn't exactly win any parenting awards because I laughed instead of being the stern, serious, reprimanding mother:

Let me set the stage for you: We went to pick up Jason's prescription a the pharmacy. Landyn asked if he could hold it for him. I said yes because it was only nasal spray and I knew he couldn't get hurt with it.
Landyn looks at Kordyn and says: This is my dad's medicine.
Kordyn: NO, it's my dad's medicine
L: NO, it's MY dad's medicine.
K: No, it's MY dad's medicine.
L: Oh, just shut up Bubby! (except is sounded like: on, just sut up, bubby)

And then I laughed before I could get onto him. I just said, Landyn Brock.
Then, Landyn said, "That's what the Germans say." ???Where does he get these things?

Friday Favorites

Here is this week's list:
1. My job-I really love my job. Somedays more than others, but I really like it. Yesterday and today I met with parents during conferences. I like to talk to them especially when it is a positive conversation, not negative! (and I was doing just a little P R for my kindergarten class next year)

2. Bestest friends-I love my friends. (Yes, I know this is not a real word, but I like to say it!) I am blessed with friends who text, email and even sometimes we get together to talk, eat and shop.

3. Sleep-I am needing me some serious sleep tonight! I am still having issues with insomnia and it is beginning to drive me crazy! I know I should probably cut down on the caffeine to help this, but I'm not into going through withdrawals.

Off to snooze on the couch!

So far, so good

So far no one else has gotten sick yet at my house. Kordyn is feeling much better-nothing like a day off of school to just bump up the immune system!

Jason (aka hoty-husband of the year) is, a this very moment, fixing the shower head that has DRIPPED for over a week and has about driven me crazy!!! I've been having insomnia about 3 am every morning for about 3 weeks now and that drip is about to send me to a therapist! I finally got out cotton for earplugs last night because I was really wanting to go back to sleep. Worked pretty well, by the way.

It's contagious

I guess whatever I had Sat is contagious because about 11:55 am, I got a call from Kordyn's school that he was in the nurse's office and was not feeling well. Evidently, he fell asleep during his Spanish class (twice) and then wrote his math teacher a note that said I am sick and want to go home. His friend, Sierra, took it to the teacher and she sent him on to the nurse's office. (He had already gone once and was given cough drops). After a dr visit, it was confirmed-it's contagious. Let's see, Jason had it, I had it, Kordyn today has it, ummmm, guess who's next? I hope Landyn does not get it! He has a harder time fighting infections.

Superbowl Sunday

Woo-hoo! It's superbowl Sunday! Don't know who is playing, don't care just want it over as fast as it can be. I do not like football (but I love basketball). Kordyn is really into this game this year so since we are under the weather, we are having our own party: pizza, popcorn, and sweet tea! (since someone drank all of my diet dr. pepper). Oh, btw, just heard it is the Steelers and Cardinals (thought they were a baseball team?)
