Home, Sweet, Home

It is sooo nice to be back at home, cooking, cleaning (well, really, Jason did all of that because I have a sinus infection and had to go to the dr for meds) and just hanging out. With electricity, with cable, with internet (last 2 just happened about 1 hr ago!)I have realized that I am really a spoiled, rotten brat, but I can live with it!
BTW, new recipe coming this pm (if all goes well-aka-electricity stays on)

Long Time, No Blog

Well, it's been awhile. I would have loved to have had internet access, but electricity was needed and well, we've been without since Tues evening.
The "rain" aka as ice, started getting worse Tuesday evening.

The boys and I got home, fixed supper and had just started American Idol when the flickering started and then went out. Jason was still in Perryville on his trip. He had decided to pack it up earlier that day and start to head home while he could. So at 11 pm, he finally made it home to a chilly house.
But, we woke up Wed am to a very cold house. After lunch at Heavenly Ham (there were actually restaurants open-roads were even clear), we decided to go on to Jason's brother and sis in law, in Pocahontas, because they have a fireplace, gas stove and gas water heater and the boys would be warm. Camp out time! The kids loved it. Eric said he felt like he was with the Darlings (Andy Griffith show) because all of my family had stuffy noses and were snoring. Hot shower and warm fireplace, nothing better! We even cooked dinner and breakfast (biscuits on the grill)

Pocahontas was hit much harder than Jonesboro. Anyway, we heard from Jason's parents that they had power and decided to head back to Jonesboro in time for a wonderful lunch of Fried Chicken. I was really sad after watching/listening to updates on the radio that we would probably not have power for maybe 3 weeks, but we got power tonight at 5 pm!! Yeah! But we are staying with Mammie and Peet's since the kids were expecting it AND I had just gone home and gathered clothes for the rest of the weekend and bedding for the kids. (we were hoping to get power sooner than they said because we passed 2 Craighead Electric trucks on our way back into town!)

So glad to be able to go home tomorrow! I really feel for those who are without right now. It is really miserable. I will post pictures soon. Still can't find that camera cord! I will LOVE to clean my house tomorrow! Love to vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms-I won't gripe any!!

What a way to wake up

There is nothing quite like waking up with no heat when the temp outside is 25!! But, I did feel the earthquake we had this morning at 4:52! Even Landyn asked what was that? Our house shook a little. Hope the rest of the day goes much quieter!

We're Back

We had a great visit in Little Rock with my parents. Here's what we did (just in case you want to know or even if you didn't but have no life and read this little blog of my life! Love ya!):

1. Got to see Jason. He looked so tired. He's been trapping from 3:00 am until sun down at night. Can't remember how many fox, coons, possums, coyotes, etc that's he's caught, but it sounded like a big #. Landyn had a campout with PaT (my dad). However, he only lasted about 10 min and then he joined me in the bed. PaT lucked out and did not have to sleep on the floor after all! Picture coming as soon as I find the cord for my camera?

2. Celebrated my dad's 58th birthday a little early (it's 1-28, wed) at Senor Tequila. Would you believe that they tried to seat us in the separate bar area with 2 kids and the rest of the restaurant wasn't even filled up? I made them mad when I said "We don't want to sit in here with children." It was really good and different from the mexican we eat in J'boro. Then we went to Target and ate birthday cake in my van in the parking lot! Memories! I just need to vacuum really bad in there now.

3. Helped my mother re-decorate her living room. It would be easier to decorate if she would ever get rid of "old things" (hint, hint, Mom). I love the new look-it looks bigger now. And the great thing is, she only needs to shop for 2 new lamps!

4. Went to church and got to hear my dad preach. I like to listen to him; he is a very good speaker. Too bad all of those years in Junior and Senior high I didn't pay more attention and appreciate it more! (I confess, I was too busy writing notes, etc.) Anyway, they are without a music minister right now so one of the church members and her band, Latitude 31, are leading it right now. They are really good! The lead singer, Gina, and I actually graduated high school together so we got to catch up and visit after church today. It was great to see her and her family.

5. Came home before "winter blast" 09 hits Monday night. Left Little Rock with temp at 36; entered J'boro at 27. Man, it's cold outside! Glad we got our heat checked out last week and it is running much better now.

What a day

This has been a busy day! Jason left last night for a week-long trapping trip to the Quachita Mts. We were wondering how Landyn would do because he has this ritual with sitting with him in the recliner every night. But Mom has gotten to do it and Landyn has been going on to bed, on time even. Kordyn has minded and been a big help. Fingers crossed that this continues until Jason returns next week!

We are going to Little Rock tomorrow to meet him at my parents and celebrate my dad's birthday. Been packing this evening so we can leave right after school tomorrow. But my bed is calling me with the help of nightime sinus medicine-later!

Winter Camp-out

Here are some pics from our camp out last night. Camo tent, sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, stuffed bear, and favorites blankees. (I slept on the couch nearby!) Jason is sick so he skipped it and chose his bed.

Friday Favorites

1. Prayer- I have several friends who are going through very tough times right now as I type this. It is so comforting to know that you can give it to God and know he hears your pleas. Please pray especially for 2 babies who are now at Ar Children's Hospital in Little Rock; they are newborns and are not doing very well.

2. Bleach-we've passed this "bug" around our house this week: no fever or vomiting, just nasty noses, upset tummies, fatigue and achiness. So tonight I have bleached everything that could be bleached. What a great feeling to have a SUPER CLEAN house right now.

3. Nieces- One just had a birthday (she's 6!) and one will be born in April. It is so fun to shop for GIRL stuff! Love my boys, but pink things are sooo cute.

4. Lotion- cold weather=rough, dry skin. My skin feels like it is leather and itches so bad!

Gotta go, we're camping out in the living room complete with pop-up camo tent. Enjoy your warm bed; I'll appreciate mine even more tomorrow night.

B-ball game

We went to the ASU basketball game tonight. It was a COLD walk into the convo center-24 degrees. But, it was even COLDER leaving-14 degrees. If it is going to be this cold, where is the snow? At least there would be snow days, closed schools, and I wouldn't have to go outside.

Kordyn loved the game. He was really into watching the scoreboard, yelling whenever others did, etc. He is so intense sometimes:)

However, Landyn was on the look out for Howl and listening to the band. (He has a Dr. Seuss movie that has music in it and they call the "band" the Big Bass Bumper Thumper) So, every time the music started, he would yell, "Yeah! The Big Bass Bumper!" He wanted to go see Howl until he came to the level nearish us and he got scared. But, on the way out, a girl gave him a postcard with Howl's information on it and he was so excited to take it home. It's amazing what impresses 3 year olds. And what it takes to impress 10 year olds.

Now, it's past time to get 2 boys into bed! Later

I have boys! Enough said

As soon as we enter our house, both of my boys have this thing with stripping down to their underwear. Hello, it is like under 25 degrees outside, I am wearing sweats, sweatshirt, thick socks and wrapped in a blanket and both of them are almost naked. Maybe it's the spicy food they like to eat?

Why?

Why is it that your children can behave wonderfully at home, in the car, at a restaurant, but the minute you enter Wal-Mart, they change into crazed kids? It just blows my mind. Anyway, it just reminded me of why I do not usually take them shopping with me, it raised my blood pressure and I get stressed out!

So, how was your Saturday?

Welcome

My dad has given in and joined the world of blogging! Here is his link: www.isbcpastor.wordpress.com

What a cloudy, dreary day we are having here today!

Friday Favorites

It's been awhile since I've blogged. This week was LOOONNNGGG! I was so ready for Friday 3 p.m.
Here are my favorites this week:
1. Crock Pot-I love to throw stuff in and walk in and it be cooked. I just found a recipe for a chocolate cake that you make in the crock pot. Gotta try that one.
2. Mechanical pencils-this is a result of my OCDness. I love a sharp pencil. If you have ever seen me at school, you know that I keep one behind my ear at all times. After 12 years of teaching, I've given myself a cowlick on my right side over my ear-my hair doesn't grow straight anymore.
3. Heavenly Ham-I love to eat there, but Sat at lunch is the only time I can because of school. So, over Christmas break, we ate there 2 times and today, my wonderful MIL brought me a chicken salad sandwich and it was wonderful!! I have been going in there weekly to buy 1 pound of turkey for sandwiches and now, no one in my family will eat the packaged stuff, which is ok with me!
4. Sun-wonderful to look at today! Brightens my mood and spirits!

Just another typical Saturday!

Except... my oven broke (heating element went out, but Jason fixed it!) And, I had to go buy a new vacuum cleaner b/c mine had died. And, a trip to Wal-Mart for groceries. Then, out to eat at Chili's. Sorry no pics of these exciting events b/c my camera is also broken! Oh, and, I have to have new glasses. On my last pair of contacts and my glasses broke (I super glued them to get through Christmas!)
Well, I know where my Christmas money is going!
